Management Trainee

How I came to LANXESS:
It’s a dynamic young company. As a new graduate, I looked for a firm that can bring me a sense of fulfillment at the workplace as well as a firm that will help me develop professionally and personally.

How I describe my current tasks to my family & friends:
Everything under one roof. As a trainee, we’re not pigeon-holed into one specific task or role. It’s called a rotational program for a reason. One month I could be involved in corporate strategy, the next month in capacity management, and the next month corporate controlling. The task itself isn’t the focus. It’s the results that count. I don’t think of myself bonded to anything specific. If a project needs to be completed, I am committed to do whatever it takes to get it done. Along the way, I undoubtedly pick up new skills, meet new and interesting people, and of course enhance my knowledge of LANXESS.

What I like most about my work:
What I appreciate the most at LANXESS is the international composition of the staff. It’s more like a ‘metropolis’ than a company. In the corridors, one will hear German, but also English, French, Mandarin, just to name a few.
I also appreciate the responsibilities that come with being a Trainee, as well as the scope of the projects that we are assigned. Most of the projects have huge implications to LANXESS so everything that you do will have a subsequent consequence!

My colleagues from other departments that I work with on a daily basis:
It all depends where I am and what I’m doing. As outlined above, tasks could change on a whim. It really keeps one on his feet because the economic climates change ever so quickly these days.

What characterizes LANXESS as an employer:
LANXESS is an excellent employer that tries successfully to cater to all its stakeholders, be it the shareholders, customers, or employees. LANXESS treats its employees with respect and helps each individual to cultivate skills that will benefit not only LANXESS but also themselves.

What I expect both professionally and personally from my work here at LANXESS:
For the duration of the trainee program, I hope to learn as much as possible by accumulating new skill sets, understanding more about this corporate enterprise, and developing new language skills (particularly German).

What I would like to give as advice to a new colleague on his first day at work:
Talk to as many people as possible! You’ll never know who you’ll meet and what you’ll learn just by communicating.
