The “LANXESS young.euro.classic China Tour” brings together talented young musicians from Germany and China, sells out venues and attracts an enthusiastic audience. LANXESS created this series of concerts back in 2007. Since then, young musicians have prepared an ambitious program each year in conjunction with renowned guest conductors, subsequently performing this on a tour of China. From 2007 to 2009, the patrons of the “young.euro.classic Festival Orchestra of Germany and China” were Germany’s ex-Foreign Minister Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier and China’s Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi. In 2010, Steinmeier’s successor Guido Westerwelle took on the role of patron in tandem with Yang Jiechi.

The first joint tour offered a highlight for the young musicians of the “LANXESS young.euro.classic” festival orchestra. German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chinese State Premier Wen Jiabao were guests of honor at the concert to celebrate the start of the German-Chinese Year 2007 in Beijing. Numerous highlights were also featured in the following years. The orchestra was the only German-Chinese contribution to the official program of culture for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Focus on water – concert tour 2010
Marking the “LANXESS Water Year”, the 2010 concert tour was dedicated to “blue gold”. The orchestra, which was made up of music students from colleges in Shanghai and Beijing and the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, was conducted by the leading German conductor Gerd Albrecht. The Grimme award winner is well-known for his successful work with young musicians. The highlight of the LANXESS young.euro.classic China Tour 2010 was a performance at the German pavilion at the EXPO in Shanghai.
