"Driving growth and delivering safety" – was the motto of the high-level rubber colloquium which LANXESS hosted on December 3 at the Imperial Hotel New Delhi. Around 250 delegates took up the invitation. Experts from politics, academia, the media and the automotive and rubber industries met up to discuss initiatives to improve traffic safety in India. Among them were notable representatives of Volkswagen, Tata Motors, TÜV Süd, JK Tyres, the Technical University of Munich as well as the German Ambassador to India Thomas Matussek.
The main questions were how the rapidly growing country of India could combat the dramatic increase in the number of road accidents and what contributions tire manufacturers and rubber suppliers could make. A promising solution could be the rapid introduction of appropriate quality standards for tires. This would contribute to raise the standard of traffic safety as well as reduce the impact on the environment.
