The Inorganic Pigments business unit is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of inorganic pigments, with a broad and innovative product range and acknowledged expertise in technical consulting. The business unit has a global presence with production and blending facilities in Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, the UK, Spain and the United States.
Iron oxide and chrome oxide pigments from the LANXESS Inorganic Pigments business unit are distinguished by their high quality and simple, standards-compliant and environmentally compatible processing.

There is a clear emphasis on the color accents that the pigments can provide – from yellow to orange; red to green; and brown to black. Color plays an increasingly important role in daily life as a versatile design element. Chrome oxide pigments and pigments from the LANXESS Bayferrox® product line are suitable for the coloration of a wide variety of products. Accounting for roughly 50 percent of sales, the business unit’s most important customer sector is the construction materials industry, where the pigments are widely used for concrete elements and roofing tiles.
They also have a decades-long track record for the coloration of paints and coatings, plastics and paper, as well as for use as specialty pigments for toner and other applications.

Marketed under the names Bayferrox®, Bayoxide®, Bayscape®, Colortherm® and Chrome Oxide Green, the business unit’s iron oxide and chrome oxide pigments have become the standard worldwide. They are characterized by their outstanding lightfastness, weather stability and chemical resistance. Bayferrox® synthetic iron oxides are available as powder, granules and compact pigment. These microgranules are particularly low-dusting and have a much higher bulk density than a corresponding powder, which represents a major advantage for transport and storage.

LANXESS offers a comprehensive range of technical oxides for specialty applications. These are products based on iron and chrome oxides that have been optimized for the diverse requirements of various markets. The broad range includes products for the manufacture of airbags, brake pads and refractory ceramics, toners used in copiers and laser printers, and adsorbents used for drinking water and wastewater purification.
